Thank you for a successful planting season!

With snow now on the ground, the 2022 planting season has come to an end. We wanted to thank all who participated in our planting events, walking tours, mulching and winterizing parties this season. Thank you to everyone that helped around our Base of Operations as well as at Hog’s Back Park and along the Aviation Parkway!

Planting of 1,000 tree seedlings in our seedling area to kick off our community tree hub.

We rely heavily on the support of volunteers to help plant trees with a plan in the National Capital Region and we can’t meet our goals without you! So we wanted to say the biggest THANK YOU!

This season we’ve had the support of 265 volunteers who’ve volunteered a combined 1,013 hours!

With your help, we were able to plant and care for more than 2800 trees and shrubs this season!

Please share this with friends and family who may be interested in helping us reach our urban afforestation goals!

Come see us at the Local Flavours Holiday Market!

WHEN: Sunday, December 4th; Saturday and Sunday, December 10th-11th, from 11am – 2pm all three days!

WHERE: 2391 Pepin Ct (in Blackburn Hamlet), at Just Food Community Farm in the Big Red Barn.

We are featured in the Manor Park Chronicle!

Trees planted along the Aviation Parkway on October 17th near the intersection of Clarke Avenue and Rainsford Avenue.

The Manor Park Chronicle, the community newspaper for Manor Park recently published their November – December issue. On pages 8 and 9 you will find the article written by Wes Smiderle from his interview with FCF director Shelley Lambert and FCF Environment and Research Manager Innes Buck. The article discusses how FCF is unique in its afforestation approach, placing an emphasis on tree care and maintenance after planting. The article discusses the 200 trees FCF planted along the Aviation Parkway on October 17th (near the intersection of Clarke Ave and Rainsford Ave). FCF will be seeking the help of volunteers in the communities surrounding this site to serve as community stewards for these trees beginning in the spring of 2023. If you are interested please email us at comms@foretcapitaleforest.ca

If you are interested in reading the article for yourself you can find the online copy of the paper here. Thank you Wes and everyone at the Manor Park Chronicle for this amazing article!
