Overview
Tree Canada and Forêt Capitale Forest are excited to plant trees in honour of National Tree Day. Come out and celebrate with us!
Tree Canada, with the support of Forêt Capitale Forest, invites you to celebrate National Tree Day (NTD), presented by BMO. National Tree Day connects local action to national impact—when Canadians participate across the country, we grow a movement that reflects who we are and the future we want to build. Join us at Remic Rapids Park to plant trees and connect with nature!
Volunteers will participate in planting 300 native trees, as well as watering and spreading mulch around them.
Tree Canada experts and experienced volunteers will be on hand to support you and answer your tree-related questions. We’ll provide gloves and shovels—all you need to bring is your enthusiasm!
How you’ll be making an impact:
Remic Rapids Park is located on the Ottawa River. It is known for its natural beauty and unique rock sculptures. The park offers scenic views of the river, the city skyline, and the Gatineau shoreline. It’s a popular spot for walking, biking, and enjoying the outdoors, with trails that connect to the larger Capital Pathway. The park is also home to a collection of balanced rock sculptures created by artist John Felice Ceprano, which are a major attraction.
In celebration of National Tree Day and in alignment with the National Capital Commission’s Forest Strategy, volunteers will plant 300 trees of diverse species— including Black maple, Basswood and Hackberry— helping restore local biodiversity and climate resilience. We’ll also be spreading mulch and watering newly planted trees to give them the best possible start. Join us in turning shovelfuls of soil into a lasting legacy for generations to come.
Free Food:
Volunteers can grab a snack and beverage, courtesy of Vachon and Dominion City Seltzer.
