This event is open to the public and suitable for new volunteers and beginner urban forest stewards.
We are hosting a tree care event at our Base of Operations on Tuesday, September 16th from 10am–12pm.
This event will include a short tour of our tiny forest demonstration plots, followed by applying tree guards to the trees in those plots. Tree guards help protect young trees from animal browsing during the winter, giving them a better chance to thrive.
FCF will bring any supplies needed for the events.
Meeting Location: FCF Base of Operations
Parking: Free parking available at the Just Food Community Farm parking lot.
Please make sure to:
- Optional: Bring your favourite gardening gloves. FCF will provide gloves if you don’t have any.
- Wear clothes that you find easy to move in and closed-toed shoes.
- We recommend wearing long pants and a long-sleeved shirt to protect yourself from weeds or foliage that may scratch or cause irritation.
- Bring drinking water, as there is no drinking water source on site.
- Dress according to the weather.
