Thank you for attending our AGM!
Thank you to everyone who attended our AGM last week in-person or virtually! It was a great evening with beautiful weather, with informative tours of our latest projects and delicious food sourced from the Just Food Farm!
We took this opportunity to reflect on this past year and we’re so proud of the growth we have experienced. To help us with achieving our goals, we’ve created reporting tools such as this dashboard to measure our progress.
Some of highlights of the past year include; 3 amazing interns taking on new challenges and pushing the organization forward, SOUL award (FCF follow-up presentation is available online), NCC recognition in Annual Report, and progress on projects at our Base of Operations such as the Tree Guilds Demonstration Plots, Miyawaki Tiny Forest Demonstration Plots, Signage and Walking Tours Prep, Potential for new greenhouse on site, and Irrigation!
Miyawaki Tiny Forest Mulch Party – All are welcome to attend!
The Miyawaki Tiny Forest Demonstration Plots have 3 tennis-court sized plots planted, and we have one plot left!
Our main priority is to ensure that the planted trees remain happy, which is why we will be hosting a mulching party!
By mulching trees and surrounding soil, we will help the soil retain more moisture, provide more nutrients to the soil and limit the growth of weeds.
If you’re interested in joining us for mulching the Tiny Forest, please let us know at comms@foretcapitaleforest.ca.
Looking for other ways to help! Donate!
Help us make a difference! Are you looking to help out but don’t have the time? We’re looking to raise enough funds to plant our 4th plot for our Tiny Forest Initiative!
You can donate to us through the Canada Helps website linked here. Your donations will directly go towards purchasing trees to be planted at our Tiny Forest Demonstration Plots.
That’s a Wrap on Tour Week!
This week we had the opportunity to host walking tours of the various projects that are ongoing at our Red Barn Food Forest. We were excited to show groups from Root in Nature, Hidden Harvest, and the Blackburn Hamlet Community Association’s Let’s Connect Outdoors walking group.
The tours provide a fun and immersive walk through nature with informative dialogue. They showcase what FCF is doing at the Just Food Community Farm and how interested people can get involved. They also carry the added benefits of immersing yourself in nature.
Thank you to everyone who has toured so far! If you’re interested in a tour of the farm, please contact us at comms@foretcapitaleforest.ca with any questions.
