Westboro Beach

About:

These forests reside on the traditional and un-ceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin. Located at the newly renovated Westboro Beach, owned by the National Capital Commission, FCF planted a Tiny Forest using the Miyawaki method of afforestation enveloped by trees planted using a conventional tree planting method. This forest being planted in spring 2025 should provide an excellent comparison in showcasing the different methods of afforestation while increasing the urban canopy. The forest was planted with a variety of native broadleaf and conifer species that make up the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence forest type.
