This forest resides on the traditional and un-ceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin. This forest was planted using the Miyawaki method of afforestation specialized for small, urban spaces. Planting this forest in spring 2024 at Jacques-Cartier Park, it was planted with volunteers from the National Capital Commission to celebrate the National Capital Commission’s 125th anniversary. This Tiny Forest holds 38 native species of trees, shrubs, and forbs making a complete forest with multiple canopy layers.
