Forêt Capitale Forest recently had the privilege of collaborating with Communities EverGreening Africa to create a meaningful tree monitoring activity for students in Tharaka Nithi County. Through this collaboration, we’ve helped 60 young environmental champions track and assess tree growth, survival rates, and biodiversity in their school landscape.
Each month, using the Tree Growth & Health Tracker, students adopt and monitor trees, record progress, observe wildlife interactions, and document their observations. This hands-on activity teaches them about tree care and environmental stewardship while developing the skills and mindset needed to protect our planet for years to come, fostering a deep, lasting connection with nature.

“I believe that when young people engage in tree planting, nurturing, and tracking, they don’t just grow trees—they grow into lifelong custodians of the environment. Through this journey, they discover that restoring nature requires patience, dedication, and consistent care. By providing them with hands-on experience and opportunities in stewardship, we empower them to take action, embrace responsibility, and drive meaningful change for a greener, more resilient future.”
— Shadrack Mutembei, Director, Communities EverGreening Africa
This collaboration has been a truly impactful opportunity to share resources and learn from one another. We’re excited to continue this work together, empowering the next generation of conservation leaders with the tools and knowledge to create sustainable change!
