About the Project

This planting is part of a collaborative project between Forêt Capitale Forest, Eco Echo, AFPO (l’Agence des forêts privées de l’Outaouais) and CREDDO and supported by Tree Canada, the Government of Quebec’s PADF (Sustainable Forest Management Program), and the Municipality of La Pêche Green Fund.

The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais is divided into six municipalities: La Pêche, Pontiac, Chelsea, Cantley, L’Ange-Gardien, and Val-des-Monts. A significant portion of the MRC is comprised of privately-managed, mature forest stands that are particularly vulnerable in the face of pests, disease, and climate change due to low diversity and connectivity.

This project aims to enhance forest resilience in the MRC by planting diverse, native, and adaptable species on private lands across the five municipalities. Approximately 1500 trees will be planted by FCF staff and landowner volunteers on 14 different sites (7 sites in La Pêche, 2 sites in Pontiac, 2 sites in Chelsea, 2 sites in Cantley, and 1 site in L’Ange Gardien).
