This event is open to the public.
Join Forêt Capitale Forest and Rural Woodlands Ottawa for a hands-on community planting event in North Gower as we establish a new Tiny Forest at the Client Service Centre!
Over the course of the event, volunteers will help plant 600 native trees, shrubs, and perennials within a 200m² site, transforming the space into a dense, diverse mini forest designed to support local biodiversity and long-term ecological resilience.
This project is part of our Tiny Forests Together program, generously funded by the Josette Robertson and Joan Johnston Family Foundation.
No previous planting experience is required — we’ll provide all the tools and guidance you need! This is a family-friendly event, providing the perfect hands-on learning experience for individuals, groups, and children of all ages!
What is a Tiny Forest?
Following the Miyawaki Method, Tiny Forests are small, densely planted native forests designed to mimic natural woodland ecosystems. By planting a diverse mix of canopy trees, understory trees and shrubs, and forest floor species in amended soil, Tiny Forests establish quickly, support biodiversity, and bring meaningful ecological benefits to urban and community spaces.
