Lac-des-Fées

About:

This forest resides on the traditional and un-ceded territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin. This forest was planted in fall 2025 just east of Lac-des-Fées in Gatineau. This planting follows the removal of the invasive species buckthorn in 2024. Trees planted at this site were planted with a high density to prevent the buckthorn from reestablishing the site. The forest was planted with a variety of native canopy and understory species that make up the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence forest type.
